The MoGEA includes sections on reading comprehension, writing, mathematics, science, and social science.Įducator Preparation candidates participate in selected professional education courses and student teaching experiences. This assessment should be taken during a student's first two years. If a student does not have a composite ACT of 22 (with no subtest lower than 18), he/she may instead take the Missouri General Education Assessment (MoGEA). Once a student meets the Education program requirements, they may apply for full admission into the CMU Education program. Students who transfer credit in a course evaluated as equivalent to Foundations of Education should consult with the Director of Teacher Education within their first semester of attendance to determine their status in the educator preparation program. Information about these requirements will be distributed to students enrolled in Education 101, Foundations of Education.

The Education Preparation Committee will determine whether an applicant will be admitted unconditionally, admitted provisionally, or not admitted based on established criteria. Students will also submit a self-assessment of their teaching dispositions along with two faculty/supervisor evaluations of the student's teaching dispositions. Students can apply for formal admission to the program when they have earned 60 hours with a 2.0 Cumulative GPA, submitted the required ACT score of 22 (no subtest lower than 18) or passed all sections of the MoGEA (see below), and completed PY210, PY223, and ED101/102 with a grade of C or better in each class. A student planning to major in any education field is considered a pre-education major until they have been fully accepted to the education program.
